Experimental and Numerical Investigation of Different Types of Jacketing Effect on Retrofitting RC Short Columns Using ECC Concrete

Given the deterioration of civil infrastructure throughout world, developing more efficient repair and strengthening is essential. Jacketing one most common methods for retrofitting reinforced concrete (RC) columns. Notably, using engineered cementitious composite (ECC) within jacketing area increases bearing capacity significantly enhances ductility The recent development ECC with suitable compressive strength higher about 5 % can enhance performance structures. behavior retrofitted RC columns depends heavily on cohesion between jacket original column as well mechanical properties materials. This study investigates jacketed square circular conventional/normal (NC) different casing techniques to retrofit columns, namely galvanized mesh, U L-shape joints, removing cover, core drilling, integrated models. All specimens were subjected a compression test. results indicate that in both specimens, use super ductile material vertical U-shaped elements connect longitudinal rebars leads much than NC specimens. These also showed because material. In order optimize these methods, finite element analysis (FEA) was conducted Abaqus software verify experimental models, parametric achieve an optimum design jacketing.
